1. About these Terms

These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are a contract between you and ScentSavvyDogs (“we”, “us”, “our”), the operator of ScentSavvy Quest (the “app”). By creating an account, continuing as a guest, or otherwise using the app, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, Safety Rules and Community & Content Rules.

If you do not agree, please do not use the app. You can contact us any time at info@scentsavvydogs.com.

2. Who can use the app

You must be at least 16 years old to create your own account. Children under 16 may only use the app under the supervision of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms on their behalf and accepts responsibility for the child’s use.

You also need to be capable of safely handling a dog in a public park environment. If you have any doubt about your dog’s suitability for off-lead or scent-work activity, follow your local rules and your vet’s advice.

3. Accounts and login

You can use the app in two ways:

• Email account — sign in with a one-time link sent to your email. We do not use passwords for participant accounts.
• Guest — play without an email. Your progress lives only on the device you start on and is lost if you clear cookies or switch devices. You can add an email later to convert your guest account; we will merge that guest’s history into the email account.

You are responsible for keeping access to your email inbox and your device secure, and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us straight away at info@scentsavvydogs.com if you think someone else has accessed your account.

Provide accurate information. Don’t impersonate another person or sign up using somebody else’s email.

4. How quests work

ScentSavvy Quest is a recreational, park-based scent-work game. Briefly:

• Each park has a weekly quest with an Easy and an Advanced difficulty. You pick one, start a timer, and tap on the map where your dog indicates the scent.
• You get up to three attempts per difficulty. Hints and later attempts cost points. The points formula is published on the Points page.
• Quests can be in draft, active, closed or revealed states. Hide locations are only visible after a quest is revealed.
• Some parks are marked as demo parks. Submissions and badges from demo parks may be excluded from leaderboards, streaks and aggregate stats.

5. Acceptable use

You agree to use the app lawfully, safely, and only for its intended recreational purpose. You must not:

• log finds you did not actually make, falsify map taps, spoof your GPS, or otherwise game the scoring system;
• reveal hidden scent locations to other players, or attempt to extract hide coordinates or success radii from the app, our APIs, or our infrastructure;
• move, hide, damage, remove or tamper with scent markers, QR codes, park signage or any other physical equipment associated with the game;
• place your own markers, run unauthorised quests, or pretend to act on our behalf;
• interfere with other users’ enjoyment of the app, harass other players or admins, or breach park or council rules;
• scrape, reverse-engineer, probe, overload or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the app, its APIs, or other users’ data;
• upload or submit content that breaks our Community & Content Rules.

6. Your content

You may add limited content to the app: a dog name, breed, sex, handler nickname, and a dog photo you upload from your device. You remain responsible for what you upload.

You confirm that you have the right to use any content you provide (including any photo you upload), and that it does not infringe anyone’s rights or laws. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, and process that content for the purpose of operating the app for you (e.g., showing your dog’s profile back to you, displaying their badges, and producing your own activity history).

You can remove your dog profiles at any time. We can remove content or accounts that breach these Terms.

7. Intellectual property

The ScentSavvy Quest brand, logo, app design, copy, badge artwork, quest mechanics, scent definitions and other materials are owned by us or licensed to us. You may use the app as intended, but you may not copy, redistribute, modify or create derivative works from our materials without our written permission.

8. Paid features

ScentSavvy Quest has no paid features at this time. If we introduce paid features in the future, we will set out the pricing, billing, renewal, cancellation and refund terms clearly before you pay, and will not override any consumer guarantee you have under applicable law.

9. App availability and changes

We work hard to keep the app available, but we don’t guarantee uninterrupted service. We may update, suspend, or discontinue parts of the app, change quest mechanics, retire scents, add or remove parks, change scoring rules, or close quests early. Where reasonable we will give you notice in the app.

We may also temporarily restrict access for maintenance, security, or to protect users.

10. Game integrity

We rely on accurate, honest play to keep the game fair. We may, at our discretion:

• invalidate submissions, reset attempt counts, or remove points and badges where we reasonably suspect cheating, GPS spoofing, tampering, brute-force probing, or pattern abuse;
• correct map, boundary, scoring or badge errors, including retroactively;
• mark a park as a demo park (in which case results may not count for stats and badges).

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• the app is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind that are not required by law;
• we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive losses, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill or reputation, arising from your use of the app;
• our total aggregate liability to you, in connection with the app, is limited to AUD $100 or the amount you have paid us in the preceding 12 months, whichever is greater.

Consumer law carve-out. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law, the UK Consumer Rights Act, EU consumer protection law, or any equivalent statutory protection in your jurisdiction that cannot be lawfully excluded.

12. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the app, or any feature of it, where you breach these Terms, the Safety Rules, or the Community & Content Rules; where we reasonably suspect fraud, manipulation of scores, or unsafe behaviour; or where we need to do so for legal, safety, or security reasons.

You can stop using the app at any time. To delete your account and associated personal data, email us at info@scentsavvydogs.com.

13. Complaints and contact

If something goes wrong, please tell us first — we’d rather hear about it and try to fix it. Email info@scentsavvydogs.com.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top, and for material changes we’ll signpost the change in-app or by email. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia. The courts of Western Australia, Australia have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms, which means you can also bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live if your local law allows it.
