How points work

Each successful find earns points. Failed attempts are recorded but don't earn or deduct points.

The formula

Total = Base + Day bonus
        − Hint penalty
        − Attempt penalty
        (never below 0)

Base

Higher for harder difficulty.

Easy quest: 10
Advanced quest: 20

Day bonus

Quests run 5 days. The longer it stays unsolved for you, the more you earn when you find it.

Day 1: +0
Day 2: +2
Day 3: +4
Day 4: +6
Day 5+: +8

Hint penalty

Tapping Get Hint costs 3 points whether you used it before or after the find.

No hint used: 0
Hint used: −3

Attempt penalty

You have 3 attempts per quest difficulty. The penalty grows with each missed attempt.

1st attempt is correct: 0
2nd attempt is correct: −2
3rd attempt is correct: −4

Worked examples

Easy quest, day 3, no hint, found on attempt 1
10 + 4 − 0 − 0 = 14 points
Advanced quest, day 1, hint used, found on attempt 2
20 + 0 − 3 − 2 = 15 points
Easy quest, day 5, hint used, found on attempt 3
10 + 8 − 3 − 4 = 11 points

Time and badges

The clock doesn't affect points. It only unlocks badges: finding fast earns Speed Seeker, taking your time earns Patient Nose, and so on. See your dog's profile for badges already earned.
